Ana Manwaring writes across mystery, memoir, and poetry — her thriller Mortal Revenge follows a protagonist uncovering corruption in Mexico’s medical system, while her memoir Saints and Skeletons, a Gold Book Award winner, chronicles her own experience living in Mexico. A forthcoming mystery series and multiple poetry chapbooks round out a body of work that doesn’t fit neatly into one genre shelf.
What we built:
- Custom WordPress build — a site built to function as an author platform across multiple, genre-different books
- Bespoke book carousel plugin — a custom-coded carousel for browsing the full catalog, not an off-the-shelf gallery plugin
- Dedicated Books, Classes, and Portfolio sections — clear navigation separating book promotion from Manwaring’s manuscript editing business (JAM Manuscript Consulting) and creative writing workshops
- Integrated blog content — several existing blogs on writing craft and cultural observations tied together under one identity
The real design challenge was range: the site has to function as an author platform promoting multiple, genre-different books, while also supporting Manwaring’s manuscript editing business and creative writing workshops — all under one cohesive identity rather than reading like three unrelated sites stitched together. A custom-built book carousel gives the catalog its own dedicated showcase rather than a generic image slider.
Clear navigation between book promotion, editorial services, and blog content was the priority, so a reader who came for the thriller and a writer looking for editing help both land somewhere that makes sense for them.
